I have lost myself so many times,
In places near and far,
With every piece I gave to you,
Emerged another scar.
And even though it hurt like hell,
I didn’t see it then —
That every scar was proof to you,
I’d find myself again.
We once looked at the same moon,
And held each other tight,
You told me “I love you”,
For the first time that night.
Now I stare at it alone,
And its more magical to see,
It didn’t look the same with you,
Because the beauty was in me.
With every man I’ve loved and lost, the only person I missed coming back to was me.
